Veteran Base

The Veterans' shared home, a gatekept starter settlement that grew into a small city, a hub of farms and shops, and the most notorious lag machine on the server.

Place ASMP S1 base

Veteran Base began as a plan between friends. kira floated the idea of a “veterans club” in July 2021 1, picked a plains spot a few hundred blocks from spawn, and kept it strictly for the “veterans” so newcomers would not taint it 2. Months later he put it plainly to prop: “It all started with me convincing you and grim to come settle here” 3. GrimWatch was the third founder, and kira insisted that “literally half of this place is yours” 4. The founding story is told under The Veteran Club Is Founded and the group under The Veterans.

What stood there

Early on it held a villager breeder, an automatic pumpkin farm, a pink axolotl in a glass tank, and a private trading hall with maxed farmers and an armourer selling diamond armour 5. Prop called the hall “our personal trading hall” and turned Suresh away from it 6. When the The Great Bad Omen Raid hit, prop called villagers “the one big trump card we have” 7. Later came iron and slime farms, kira’s golden tent gold shop beside a book shop 8, prop’s hexagonal beacons, a bamboo farm and a raid farm. By October prop declared it “actually now more like a small city” 9, and the friends started calling it Veteran City.

The lag machine

All those villagers had a price. Players complained of crawling frame rates there, Suresh noting the Nether gave him better fps than the base 10, prop tried carpets under the villagers 11, and in 2022 he gave up: “vet base is unfixable” 12. Days later he said the castle “aint that laggy tho vetbase only lag machine” 13. It also took beatings: Kart riddled it with creeper holes and was banned from the region 14 (see The Kart and Veteran Base Feud), and it was the main target of The Fall, when griefers covered it in lava 15. The chat suggests the November backup restore brought the land back but not the factory 16 17 18.

Afterlife

In December 2021 prop’s test copy of the world in 1.18 revealed six spawners under the base, and kira boasted “guess who picked the spot” 19. When Season 1 returned in 2026, several outskirts farms were lost because the restored backup predated them 20. prop’s cleanup of the old land followed (Operation Clean Up).
