The Shopping District (“SD”) was where the The Diamond Economy of Season 1 got a street to live on. It grew in November 2021, soon after the world came back from The Alternate Timeline.
The approach came first. On 20 November kira asked whether a bridge was built “in preparation for mall”, and prop answered yes, adding that a small street should come before the mall: it would give people a chance to show their creativity solo before bringing their main outlet into a format fit for the mall. 1 2 prop then detailed the street leading in, which abi called perfection.
On 22 November the council’s rules were published as the district’s Terms and Conditions, with the document made by nYx. 3 Plots were 15x15 and rented for one diamond block each. 4 Scaffolding marked shops that were not finished yet. 5 Early tenants were prop with a totem and emerald shop, kira with a temporary gold shop, abi with a diamond shop and Kart with an iron and nether themed plot. Kart pointed out that there were only three plots for five players on the server, and the extra plots were left for the planned meeting to decide. 6
Griefing the district was against the rules: prop warned that you would be banned from the server for it. 7 The shops were lively. kira called prop’s cactus-damage shop the best shop in the SD. 8 By December prop was on his second month of rent and pinging others to pay up. 9
The chat places the district near spawn, beside the meeting room and abi’s farms. In late December kira gave directions to it from Abi's Japanese House, over a bridge across the river. 10
