The Mall

In November 2021 the Axolotl SMP Season 1 economy was being revived, and with it the plan for a mall at the end of a new bridge in the Shopping District. The pitch from IRIS (abi) was a place to sell the items not available to everyone on the server. ^{1 2}

Designing it

Rather than build blind, the group designed on prop’s Aternos creative server, “where we built mall”, using WorldEdit circles and hollow cylinders. ^{3 4 5} On 17 November everyone was told to design their own mall with a given palette, and the best would be built. ^{6 7}

prop’s entry had a heart-shaped plan, mirrored spiral staircases, a main shop building and elytra fly-in and fly-out zones. ⁸ IRIS’s rival exterior gave every item type its own themed shop, End, Nether and fungus among them; it was admired but not picked. prop’s design won. By 1 December IRIS claimed to have deleted the test server, yet prop was still running it. ⁹ Whether the mall ever left the creative world is not clear from the chat.
