Nether Hub and Tunnels

A tunnel meant to link a few portals safely that grew into Season 1's first community project: a domed hub and lantern-lit prismarine roads.

By prop’s own account, it started as “a smol nether tunnel to connect up all the portals safely” 1. Then everyone showed up. abi brought materials and came up with the sandstone, Suresh and Kart tagged along and built tunnels, and kira “sponsored” the project and relinked portals; prop called it “first unintentional community project” 2, and “the entire active players of the server were working on a nether tunnel which actually turned out to be pog” 3.

The design, credited on 27 September to prop and abi, was a four-wide road of polished basalt, dark prismarine, sandstone and soul lanterns, with glass sections and slabbed floors so nothing could spawn inside 4. Portals were left as templates so that players could design their own end. prop announced the “w.i.p nether hub” that day 5, with a glass-domed central station at its heart 6, and posted “central hub done” on 28 September 7. Building it cost lives; prop later noted “there were some deaths in the construction of nether tunnels”, and BotFragx answered “A.K.A me” 8.

Most of the farm outposts connected to the network 9. After the griefing of October 2021 kira asked whether the hub existed in the backup 10, and Kart was sharing its waypoint on 8 November 11. In April 2022 prop rejected a ghast farm in the soul sand valley beside the hub because it would “mess up” the portals 12.

When the world came back in 2026, prop was still sending people to “the center nether hub place” 13.
