The Valorant Crew

The friend group's nightly Valorant stack, summoned by a role ping, who clipped aces, planned a Neon unlock and entered a small online tournament.

Faction ASMP S1 team

When Minecraft lagged in late 2021 and early 2022, the Discord turned into a Valorant hangout (see The Valorant Era). The people who showed up were the Valorant crew, a stack of server regulars summoned by a pingable “Valorant Player” role. 1

The core was prop, IRIS, BotFragx, nYx, RJ, GrimWatch, Kart, Levi and kira, with Hayan, Snake Eyes and Saitama also in the overlapping circle. They played custom matches most nights, and prop would chase stragglers with a string of mentions and a plain “what happen”. 2

Plans were made at the kind of hours you would expect. In January 2022 IRIS named “Jan 11 morning 12 30 am” for a session built around a Neon unlock, 3 and prop figured that “if only us 3 queue we get easier lobbies than normal”. 4 On 4 March 2022 the crew was still at it, with IRIS calling “play bind”. 5 Around then prop’s team entered an online tournament and dropped into the lower bracket. 5

The habit outlasted Season 1. In June 2022, during Season 2, kira was still asking for “valo at 11:30?”. 6
