In summer 2023 ASMP Earth had its own newspaper, published on Sundays and written in turns by prop and nYx from an old world-war-style template. Stories came from server life, for example the coal shortage. On 2023-07-16 prop noted that “this weeks newspaper was made by nyx” 1 and that “we shd probably add our names somewhere in the paper bro” 2.
The ad policy. Ads were free, but with a condition that prop spelled out on 2023-07-09: advertisers had to hand over “the entire thing you want to display on the paper”, as one finished image to drop in, and not just “one screenshot” with a request to put it in. As he put it, it was “like actual ads” 3, and if anyone expected the staff to edit their ad, they had better pay up.
The name. The in-joke was that nobody could spell it. The first edition went out as “The Marincess Herald” 4, the first PDF filename had “Matincess”, and by the third edition it had become “The Marciness Herald” 5.
The full history of the paper, from naming to its short life, is in The Marincess Herald.
