ASMP Limbo did not end quietly. After a day of dreading the moment he would have to close the world, 1 prop logged in on 26 April 2024 and announced to the chat that he was going to “blow everything up”. 2 The catch was that he only had 5 TNT. What he did have was infinite lava. 3
The cast
“lava cast has begun,” he reported at 13:55, and screenshots followed all the way down. 4 A curtain of lava fell over the island, swallowed prop's Base and ran to the coast, where it turned the water beneath it to stone. Along the way a wandering trader died and he warned that his dog and horse were going to die too, narrating it as it happened. Earlier, Kart had dared him to lava cast the Nether as well. When the roughly 130 hours of play behind the base came up, prop shrugged it off: “more like 10 mins”. 5
Early on he judged the result “kinda satisfying”. 6 Once the damage was done he noted there were “no backups” 7, though he later admitted he had made one backup before the cast, and shared it alongside the lava cast version of the world. 8
The bot massacre
Then came the guests. prop spawned Carpet bots one at a time into the lava: Grimwatch, nyxtaku, Herobrine, Notch, jeb_, Dream, TommyInnit, Grian, MumboJumbo and two crudely named extras. Each died within seconds, most of them trying to swim out of the lava to escape him. TommyInnit at least got a proper send-off, slain with “prop’s Axe of Peace”. 9
He collected the advancement Voluntary Exile, typed “this is the end” and logged off. 10 11 The server shut down that afternoon, and prop announced the channel would be repurposed for the next SMP. 12 See also ASMP Limbo Ends.
