After the October griefing (The 2b2t Griefers), the server needed saving, and on 2021-11-04 kira took it on himself. “@here I will be trying to recover axolotl now. join vc if you want to watch” 1, he announced, and he streamed the attempt in voice chat.
His report came a little later. The rollback had not restored every entity and block, but it took the world to a stage of “almost repairable”. The catch was that the griefers’ lava was still there after the rollback and went on destroying things. The plan was to clear the fluids with WorldEdit first and then roll back again 2.
He also set expectations: “I am lazy so expect it to take another week or 2” 3. prop, who wanted to help, was stuck with “3 assignments due” 4, and by the next morning the chat was arguing over who was lazy and who was merely dead. Earlier attempts to use Ledger had already gone wrong, as in Ledger Rollback Goes Wrong.

update: I tried rolling back, not all entities/blocks are restored but it goes to a stage of almost repairable. lava still remains and destroys things after roll back so I will have to use worldedit to remove fluids and…
