In October 2021 abi was building a witch farm in “Shrek’s swamp” 1. “i will finish this witch farm”, he said on 26 October, and it was working that day; he called it “very self sufficient” and spawn-proofed 2 3. Steve the bot spent time AFK in it (Steve the Bot). Its purpose was practical: glass bottles for the honey farm, plus glowstone. abi said it had been built by him and prop 4.
Lost in the Fall
The farm did not survive The Fall. The restored backup was 20 days old, so the witch farm went with a bonemeal farm, a cobble farm, a super smelter and a lava farm 5. abi lobbied kira to copy it back, and on 7 November a vote was called (The Witch Farm Vote) 6 7. Kart and Suresh were in favour or did not mind. prop was against it, preferring to rebuild rather than ask for “world edit shenanigens” and downtime 8. The sources I read do not show the result.
A swamp 5,000 blocks out
By 21 November a witch farm with a sorter stood in a swamp about 5,000 blocks from spawn, with a mineshaft underneath 9 10. It looks like a fresh build, because kira asked “you built a witch farm?” and IRIS cheered 11 12.
