On 1 March 2022 kira pulled prop into voice chat to “pick parts for server” 1. The Minecraft server was still running on an old Pentium, and the plan was a Ryzen 5 with 8 to 12 GB of RAM set aside for Minecraft. The parts arrived in a Corsair case full of RGB fans, which kira admitted he had chosen only because they were the cheapest.
The build was scheduled as a Discord event for 10 March, and that day brought the surprise. Amazon had sent an i5-10400 box with nothing in it. As kira put it: “I got an i5-10400 without processer instead of ryzen 5 5600x” 2. He bought a processor locally instead, announced “processor obtained!” the next day 3, and built the machine on the evening of 11 March.
The new machine got a name that kira vowed to keep: “yes the server’s name is gonna be axolotl even if the mc server dies” 4. Within a day it was running the server; see Migration to the New Ubuntu Server and The Server on Kira's Home Connection.
