On 18 April 2024 the join messages started rolling in on ASMP Limbo: “nyxtaku has joined the server!” 1, then HaYan, Grimwatch and more. The population of the server, which was mostly prop by then, had apparently exploded.
It had not. Prop was using Carpet fake players (see Carpet Fake Players) named after friends, nyxtaku, HaYan, hayan, Grimwatch and Nyx, to AFK his skeleton farm and double the mobcap. “Thanks for helping with skel farm afk bois,” he wrote 2. When he was done he killed most of them by hand, the log recording that “nktaku was slain by ProPlayerPlayz” 3.
kira had meanwhile seen the joins and reacted with a long “wtffffff” 4, before the penny dropped: “oh its bots ah” 5. Prop was unrepentant. People in voice chat were watching live, so, “unironically the most active day in asmp limbo history” 6.
The bots were friends only in name: nYx, Hayan and GrimWatch were not actually online.
