In July 2021 kira and prop dug a slime farm near the Veteran Base. Kira first checked that the area prop had dug out was meant for a slime chunk 1, and he asked whether they wanted to build it “the traditional way or with portals” 2. They settled on the traditional design, a 9x9 floor dug down to y=5.
The dig had its perks. A huge ravine turned out to lie under the slime chunk 3, and prop pulled extra diamonds out of it. To speed up the excavation they parked a haste 2 beacon on iron blocks over the site, joking that they would “dig this place up then move it” 4. Kira insisted on non-symmetric torch spacing so that enough spawnable blocks survived. The slimes, for their part, ganged up on kira while he built.
Once it was running, kira was unimpressed: “the slime farm rates are shit” 5, roughly 2k an hour against an ideal 4k. He later noticed that rates improved when more people were online: “more players = more mobcap” 6. Prop’s last note was that a hole in the farm’s walls needed patching 7.
