prop's Castle

Season 3 got its castle from prop. On 2024-06-07 he placed a few blocks near the Cherry Village to mark out a region and promised to “update the wall designs and shit later” ¹. The main building, he said, would be a Norman keep inside a walled zone, after a YouTube guide to real fortification logic ².

The keep

Construction began on 2024-06-27 with a laconic “it has begun” ³, and the exterior was finished the next day ⁴. Prop described the pace himself: he “played properly for 2 days to build one castle” ⁵. The keep is tuff with spruce, dark oak and Nether wood accents and blue and aqua flags. Inside, spiral staircases link every floor, with a basement below and a throne room with a gallery above it ⁶. A soldiers’ layer sits over the throne room, and the royal suite’s ceiling doubles as the elytra launch hole. The top layer carries machicolations, and the archer slits are famously hard to shoot back through. Kart briefly squatted in the king’s suite.

The keep was declared “castle done” on 2024-07-02 ⁷.

The walls

Prop had already marked out huge outer walls ⁸, and wall work started on the server itself on 2024-07-05 ⁹. Foundations went in on 07-10 and the base structure was done on 07-12 (“its fucking done”) ¹⁰. On 2024-07-15 he announced “walls are officially done” ¹¹. The result is a massive ring of tuff and cobblestone with towers, machicolations, copper block details and banners. Others called it “the giant castle over there” ¹². The chat later ranked it the most impressive big build since abishek’s castle in the original season.
