Portal-based Iron Farm

Iron, on ASMP Earth, came from golems, and golems came from prop. In July 2023 he was already announcing that he “hires villagers to use their mysitcal powers to summon golems of iron to farm infinite iron” at his Antarctic territory, and a few days later that he had revolutionized iron “forever after curing zombie villagers”. ^{1 2}

The portal design

On 30 September he posted a video for a simple, efficient design (a MineTheFab layout good for around 1,700 iron ingots an hour) and marked it “high priority”, though IRIS pointed out that the slime farm was equally prioritised. ³ Two days later: “done”. ⁴

On 4 October prop improved it by placing a name-tagged zombie on the Nether side of the portal, so the golems die faster. He stressed it was a collection-efficiency gain, “not production”. ⁵

The overflow

By then the farm had a surprise guest. A fake-player bot parked nearby had been AFK for three days, and the farm overflowed with iron. “the bot is still on the server”, prop realised on 5 October, after earlier calling the take a “decent amount of iron”. ^{6 7} He wanted better storage afterwards.
