On 2021-07-22 kira put the question of where the shared portal network should live to a vote: on the bedrock ceiling, or at y=100. 1 The outcome is not recorded in the sources, but within days the portals were on the roof.
On 2021-07-26 kira announced “ima break bedrock now” and cut the server’s first bedrock to build a portal off the Nether roof, a route towards the End. 2 It took several attempts: the overworld side had to be moved “to correct location” and higher up (about Y 14+) so the two ends would link. 3 4
The roof hub was veteran-only, and prop gave directions to a hole near -31 ~ -24, with kira’s kira's Gold Farm close by. 5 Players travelled by the ceiling with elytra and rockets, and signs pointed the way, even to “kira gaurdian temple”. 6
By late September prop noted “there is alrteday shit ton of portals on the roof”. 7 The roof was also where several farms sat, and where prop noted that Honeybabe, a bot parked there, could stop the wither skeleton farm by filling the mob cap. 8
