kira's Ocean Monument Base

On 5 August 2021 kira pointed at an ocean monument and announced “this is going to be the center of my base”, then declared he would “drain a circle of radius 90 around the monument”. ^{1 2} The plan was a storage system styled as a flooded vault powered by a conduit. ³ He picked a monument because only guardians spawn inside its bounding box, which made it the perfect heart for a guardian farm. That farm became kira's Guardian Farm, and the whole base grew up around it. Levi helped drain, and kira borrowed prop’s beacon to tear the monument down.

The big drain

The monument itself came down by 13 September, but the circle of ocean around it was a much longer job. By October kira was fighting the water with an ilmango drainer and more than thirty sponges, and admitted, “I messed up so many times, I can’t count”. ⁴ In December a flying-machine water remover cleared the first section of ocean, floored with blue glass, while abi (on Discord as IRIS) grumbled that “STILL WATER IS THERE DOWN”. ^{5 6}

A border wall of sand, which took six or seven shulker boxes’ worth, was finished on 30 September. ⁷

The mammoth base

On the last day of 2021 kira posted “my mammoth of a base (WIP)”: a long prismarine hall running across the drained floor. ⁸ Its working heart, besides the guardians, was the Copper Farm, which he showed pumping out copper “after the upgrade” the same day. ⁹ A week later the server’s view distance went up, and kira spotted a beacon beam on the horizon and wondered which “mfer” had built it. He flew over and found it was his own copper farm. ¹⁰

In March 2022 the project turned to storage. Square by square the base filled in (“square #2 done”, he reported on 5 March ¹¹), and by 8 March he was down to “just 4 more slices” of a modular sorting system fed by shulker boxes. ¹² The next day he talked through the unsorted shulker boxes and his plans for storage silos for redstone and cobblestone. ¹³ That was when prop posted the overhead shot of the whole thing, the drained circle with the guardian farm and the prismarine hall, and called it “mass”. ^{14 15} kira’s reply: “it ain’t much but its honest work”. ¹⁶

Afterwards

By March 2022 kira could boast, “mine is the only base that can be seen from maximum zoom out” on the Dynmap. ¹⁷ In the 2026 revival, he was hunting through old screenshots to recapture its palette: oxidized copper, warped nether wart and prismarine blocks. ¹⁸ It also has an auto-dropper with a minecart item system, and a guardian farm used purely for prismarine. ¹⁹
