In December 2021, with abi gone from the server and already honoured with a lore death, Kart decided that a hero deserved a monument. His first plan was a chest holding all of IRIS’s stuff and shulkers, “covered in netherite and obsidan” 1. What he actually built, on 11 December, was a small shrine standing right in front of abi’s base, made from a block of netherite surrounded by gold and diamond blocks, with an obsidian box of goodies tucked inside. Kart announced it with “the shrine is complete” 2, and generously added that IRIS could keep the gold and diamond if he ever rejoined, but the netherite block was Kart’s 3.
The honoree was not moved. According to the lore readers, IRIS called it ugly and too small, so Kart went back to the drawing board and reworked it with oxidised copper from kira’s shop, asking “how bout now” 4. kira thought it looked better without the flashy, boxy look. A later version added oxidised copper stairs.
The shrine ticked off the “Build a shrine for abi” line on the Season 1 to-do list by 11 December 5. prop reportedly had “something better planned” for honouring IRIS, which is a story for The Shrine of IRIS.
