In October 2021 prop and abi set out to solve Axolotl SMP Season 1’s bone meal problem. The first attempt was a moss-block farm, a “500+ per hour” design from a YouTube video 1. prop marvelled that abi “completed resource collection and building of mossfarm in one sitting” 2, but it did not work out: abi burned through 15 stacks of bone meal and called the whole thing “total bullshit”, while prop insisted “its supposed to be self sustaining” 3 4.
On 24 October prop flattened a 13 by 103 block strip for the replacement, a melon farm to build with abi 5, with rows of stone-brick farmland and a composter design from another video 6.
The new setup had its own curse. nYx went to check on it and found it broken, and prop explained the cause: “whenever server backup happens it clitches out” 7. That episode is one of the reasons kira later made backups less frequent (Backups break the farms).
Once it ran, it ran too well. On 25 October prop looked in and said “thats a lot of bonmeal” 8, then asked abi to stop the farm or expand its storage 9.
