How Xaero's map mods carried the friends' waypoints and explored terrain between versions and servers.

Curiosity The Return mod

Xaero’s Minimap and World Map were how the friends remembered where everything was. In August 2023, when ASMP Earth moved to a new game version, prop posted instructions for keeping old data: find the 1.19.3 instance, copy the XaeroWaypoints and XaeroWorldMap folders, and paste them into the new 1.20.1 one 1. He added updates to the guide in September 2.

For The Return: Season 1 Restored he went further. A server-side map mod seemed overkill for the CPU load, so he installed a Xaero side mod that loads the world map client-side from anyone who already has the full map 3. He “painstaking generated” the Xaero map data for the entire world file 4, except the End dimension 5.
