Season 3’s nether was designed by prop around one idea: getting around should be part of the fun.
In July 2024 he laid down a central line of netherrack markers (“follow that netherack thing”) leading to a portal “connected to all major portals of the smp”. 1 2 Three days later he declared it was “time to invest in the first ice boat network”. 3 In October new portals were simply tied into “the tunnel system we have already”. 4
On 10 November 2024 he spelled out the philosophy. Portals belong between y 50 and 70, and nether roof portals were to be avoided, because “i think that kinda ruins the fun of nether travel”. 5 6 7 The paths also had to be “horse accesible”, since horses now pass through portals instantly. 8
