The Season 1 Server Stack

Season 1 ran semi-vanilla Fabric 1.17.1 with Hermitcraft datapacks, Carpet, Lithium, Phosphor and a Discord bridge, so it played like vanilla but lagged less.

Curiosity ASMP S1 mod

Season 1 of the Axolotl SMP ran on Fabric 1.17.1. prop and kira praised how little it lagged compared with the Create Together modpack that came before it, and “fabric is sooooo much better” was the verdict. 1 2 Players needed Java 16 for the proximity voice chat mod. 3

What was on it

On opening week kira listed the server mods: Lithium, Phosphor, fabric-tailor for skins, Ledger for logging and rollbacks, and disfabric for the Discord bridge. BlueMap was held back, and prop thought it “overkill” anyway. Kira’s review of vanilla: “yo vanilla cringe af”. 4 5 6 The server also ran Hermitcraft-style datapacks, such as fast leaf decay so players could replant. 7 8

Carpet optimised redstone, and only the voice chat mod was needed on the client side. 9 Kira later called the setup Hermitcraft datapacks plus SciCraft rules with Carpet and MiniHUD, and contrasted it with Paper servers, which had “very inconsistent mechanics”. 10 Carpet’s fake players gave kira a way to AFK. 11

Servux and carpet-extra

prop asked for Servux so MiniHUD could show structure bounding boxes, but on 23 September kira was still saying “fabric carpet only”. 12 13 Carpet-extra arrived on 9 October, so Tweakeroo’s flexible placement with rotation could work. 14

Semi-vanilla

In March 2022 kira summed it all up as “semi-vanilla”: quality-of-life mods, no new content, and prop’s custom models. 15 16 17 When the hardware was upgraded the skin mod got forgotten, which left prop as Steve for a while. 18

Connected

Event Migration to the New Ubuntu Server On 12 March 2022 kira moved Season 1 onto the new PC running Ubuntu, forgot passwords, and found an 8 GB heap wasn't a problem.
