prop's high-effort custom-model axe: it inspired the model 'patent' system and was the only model carried into Season 2.

The Glitchpop Axe was the flagship of prop’s Blockbench career. It was a custom model with enough effort in it to raise an awkward question on 31 December 2021: was it acceptable to sell “high effort models like the Glitchpop Axe for diamonds”, rather than release every model to everybody? 1

His answer became the model “patent” system (Custom Models and Patents, The Model Patent System). Rather than selling models like items, he would sell the in-game patents, so that whoever held the patent owned the model, giving everyone unique models instead of access to everything. The axe itself, he added, was exempt, as models released earlier were unaffected. 2 3

In the game

kira asked on 2 January 2022 whether the axe had been added in-game yet; prop replied that he was adding it right now. 4 5 It quickly became a threat: BotFragx (Suresh) warned Kart that “you will die in the hands of glitchpop axe”, and Kart objected: “wait isnt it a pickaxe”. 6 7

Legacy

When Season 2 began in June 2022, prop’s news post said the Glitchpop Axe was the only model kept from Season 1’s resource pack. 8 In July 2022, when prop picked Blockbench back up, Kart came asking about the axe again (“YOOO”). 9 See also The Glitchpop Axe.
