ASMP Limbo Opens

After several restarts, prop opened the modded Create server Limbo, a no-reset, play-whenever world that would REMAIN FOREVER until a serious SMP returned.

Event Limbo 23 Oct 2023

On 23 October 2023, after several false starts, the bridge bot finally announced “Server is up bois!” 1. The new world was ASMP Limbo, and prop was not shy about its name: “ASMP Limbo: Random Bullshit Go!”

His announcement set the terms. Until the group came up with a good idea for an SMP and had enough people to play it, the server would sit in a “so called Limbo State”, which did not mean it was down but that there was, literally, a limbo server. It was a modded Forge 1.20.1 world whose mod list would shift with what the active players wanted, and it would “REMAIN FOREVER” 2. Prop put it more simply in chat: “its limbo season”, and “the point in this server is that its just going to be here” 3 4. It was a no-reset, play-whenever season, with quests borrowed from another modpack.

The opening day was classic Axolotl. Kart posted “FIRST” in the new channels 5. GrimWatch was less impressed, complaining about having to download “like 10 files separately” 6. Meanwhile prop and Kart raced through the early advancements (Andesite Age, diamonds, obsidian), built a wheat farm and laid pipes at the Limbo Starter Base and Dock.

The “forever” part was revised almost at once. On 27 October the entire server was reset and rebuilt on Fabric 1.20.1 with some extra mods 7. Limbo went on to be prop’s long Create sandbox; see Limbo's Ethos and Demise and The Great Limbo Post-Mortem for how it ended.
