On 13 August 2022 Sian and eb tried to take a Warden home alive. The plan was Sian’s. He had “a roof portal into the cage” 1, so the only difficulty was getting the Warden from the ancient city to the portal. His advice was to place and break blocks near it, hit it, and run.
The first attempt cost eb a life, and the server posted “_eb was slain by Warden” 2. eb described it as the craziest “to valhala moment” he had ever had. Sian had insisted that all the testing happen far from his own base 3.
It worked in the end. Using a sculk sensor and a trapdoor trick, the pair trapped the Warden in Sian’s Warden Cage, and reported, “the warden trap works with no problem” 4. Later in the day Sian asked eb a pointed question about the spoils of the follow-up kills: “did you get warden head” 5.
The cage was not perfect. The chat suggests it sometimes failed when chunks unloaded, and the later Wardens that the pair brought home were killed rather than kept. See also First Warden Killed on the Server and The First War: Warden Head Feud.
