In July 2021 the veteran settlement of Axolotl SMP Season 1 got two fast farms side by side, built by prop and kira from YouTube tutorials. The reason was villagers: pumpkins and melons are what farmers and cartographers want, and they pay in emeralds. See Villager Trading Tricks for the rest of the friends’ bag of tricks.
The pumpkin farm came first. prop dug out the space for it, at the cost of two pickaxes (“2 picks gone for this itself lmao” 1).
On 2021-07-13 he left kira a video link and the news that everything needed for the build was in a chest near the portal 2. By the afternoon, the farm was built from observers, pistons and quartz, and prop reported “dude pumpkin farm done” 3.
The melon farm followed beside it: a 10x9 piston-and-observer design 4, with a minecart-hopper collection system and 34 powered rails, following another YouTube design. On 2021-07-17 prop announced “done” 5, and kira confirmed “its working nice” 6.
