In Season 2 the quickest road between bases ran across the ceiling of the Nether. On 11 July 2022 ntize reported that he, Emperor Sian and IRIS had gone to the roof “making portals for easy access to places” 1.
By August there was a whole island. Giving a newcomer directions, ntize wrote: get to the roof, follow the cobblestone and the white carpet, “u’ll reach the place where everybody else’s portals are there” 2, and he planned packed ice and boats for faster travel 3. prop declared “this time i aint gonna design the nether hub” 4.
The network kept growing. A community portal sat beside Fili’s base 5, Fili suggested an End portal on the roof too 6, and Sian asked for one of his own 7. See also Central Nether Roof Portal.
Success bred confusion. On 18 December 2022 prop “labelled a few of these portals on the roof”: “shits confusing” 8 9.
