Every world the friends played on lived on someone’s machine, and each one had its own idea of when to reboot.
Season 1: always on, with a 4 am restart. The Axolotl SMP Season 1 server restarted at 4 am local time. The Discord bridge announced it with “Server started!” 1. The restart caught IRIS out. “This 4 am server restart killed my bot” he wrote, with a crying emoji 2. In January 2022, when the idea of switching the server off at night came up, kira refused: “im not gonna, since we can run bots at that time” 3. Instead, “its gonna be 24/7, that will be easier for me” 4.
Season 2: Sunday mornings. By Axolotl SMP Season 2 the rule was weekly. kira put it simply: “every week sunday at 8 in the morning server reboots” 5. In the bridge logs those restarts show up at about 02:31 UTC.
Limbo: every 48 hours. In December 2023 prop posted a maintenance changelog for ASMP Limbo. An automatic restart system now terminated and restarted the server every two days at 3 am, after a 45-second gap 6. The aim was to stop RAM sitting idle and wasted, and to make sure progress was saved. An earlier changelog that month had already celebrated a “long pending restart” and a smoother server 7.
