Guardian Farm Goes Online

On 16 November 2021 abi typed “IT IS WORKING” ¹ and the Guardian XP Farm was officially online. prop and abi had built it, directly on an elder guardian monument, from an idea that belonged to Suresh. The first reaction from Suresh was a mix of delight and grievance: “i’m happy that this farm exists but not happy that you built this without me when this was my idea” ².

It was not an easy birth. According to the lore readers, a nether portal linked wrongly and sent guardians over the nether roof, so the farm was moved up to y=210.

The payoff was ridiculous. Prop went “from 77 to 86 in a few hits” ³, Suresh took 33 to 48 in a go ⁴, and prop declared it “far more powerful than gold farm” ⁵. A bonus was sea lanterns. A cost was lag: the readers record that it doubled the server’s mspt, and prop earlier blamed a ten-second lag spike on his trip to the End ⁶.

Then came the clause. “can we agree to keep this farm only to us 3?” asked prop ⁷, crediting Suresh for the idea and himself and abi for the build; abi and Suresh agreed. Later that day he called it “officially the best xp farm on the server as of now” ⁸ and killed an elder guardian to prove it ⁹.
