ASMP Pack v1.0: Stormbreaker and the Molten Pickaxe

prop released the first proper ASMP Pack with two Blockbench models, Stormbreaker for the netherite axe and a Terraria-style Molten Pickaxe that abi claimed at once.

Event ASMP S1 28 Dec 2021

On 27 December 2021 the first test build, “ASMP Pack v.beta.1”, had shown that custom item models only worked with OptiFine. 1 A day later prop published v1.0 of the ASMP Pack, holding two models made in Blockbench. 2 (This is part of the wider story in Custom Models Come to Axolotl SMP.)

Stormbreaker

prop finished Stormbreaker on 28 December: “stormbreaker completed”. 3 It replaces the netherite axe (tag 137401), and he noted it was only the second model he had ever made. 4 5

The Molten Pickaxe

The Molten Pickaxe was recreated from Terraria’s, with the same shape as the reference image but HD textures and “some extensions like this for cool effect and neatness”. 6 It replaces the netherite pickaxe (tag 668701). 5

IRIS (abi) demanded the files as soon as the pickaxe appeared in game, and prop later groaned that “abi took the pick i made for me so i make more kek”. 7

What came next

v1.1 followed the next day with the Wakanda Shield, plus tweaks to how Stormbreaker and the pickaxe sat in the hand. 8 By 30 December prop was nearly done with a Glitchpop Axe, until a stray Ctrl+Z cost him a blade. 9
